News: More Topless Henry Cavill Shots To Drool Over In Man Of Steel

Posted in Comics, Movies, News, Thoughts with tags , , , , , on October 26, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

Does what it says on the tin – By which I mean, there’s not a lot more to say other than what’s up there in the title. Big muscley star of The Tudors Henry Cavill with his top off. Superman sexy. Those two words together send a creepy shiver down my spine. Man Of Steel‘s abs of iron. I’ll stop now.

Let’s speculate, shall we? Read more »

Review: Captain America – The First Avenger

Posted in Movie Review, Movies, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 26, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

The last film before The Avengers assemble actually features the very first Avenger – Captain America. That’s probably ironic or something.

Steve Rogers (Chris Evans digitally reduced in the most convincing manner) is the scrawniest kid you’ve ever seen. I mean, REALLY. He’s got every ailment going too. He’s the walking, talking embodiment of downtroddenness. Except he has heart. A huge heart, and he doesn’t like bullies. Seeing the Nazis marching across Europe boils his blood and he wants to stop them. He tries to sign up to the Army to do his bit for his country but they turn him away. That is until he’s spotted by exiled german scientist, Dr Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci). He sees Rogers exceptional qualities and asks if he’d would like to sign up for his super-soldier programme… Read more »

LiveBlog: Batman: Arkham City

Posted in Game Review, Games, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 23, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

SPOILER WARNING. From here in out I’m going to be giving away story and plot points. If you intend on playing the game and want to remain spoiler-free, stop flipping reading, you idiots. For everyone else, welcome.

A little re-cap before we begin – Batman: Arkham City is the sequel to Rocksteady’s 2009 hit Batman: Arkham Asylum, in which you are tasked with stopping the nefarious Joker as he breaks free and takes over the institute for the criminally insane. Locked inside the asylum with The Joker and many other members of Batman’s colourful cast, you are the only thing that stands in their way of the total destruction of Gotham City.

Arkham Asylum is a brilliant game. Crafted with such care and attention to detail, it finally gave Batman, and superheroes, a videogame they could be proud of. It would of been my Game Of The Year, if not for a stellar Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves. To say I was excited about Asylum’s follow-up, Arkham City, would be an understatement. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Games: Modern Warfare 3 New Strike Packages Video

Posted in Games, News, Thoughts, Trailer with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 21, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

I’ve spent more time that is healthy playing Call Of Duty’s online deathmatches. Days. Weeks, even. I am not lying. And I don’t even like or enjoy it that much! Sigh. Anyway, what’s left of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have released a vid showing the new Assault, Support, and Specialist packages…

I am none-the-wiser. Read more »

News: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Viral Marketing Leaves Us With More Questions Than Answers

Posted in Movies, News, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , on October 21, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

I’m loving The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘s marketing campaign. It feels like they’re trying to draw us into Lisbeth Salander’s/Mikael Blomkvist’s investigative minds. Today, Mouth-Taped-Shut (that production blog I’ve mentioned like, a million times) uploaded a YouTube video of the car crash footage, which is a critical element to The Girl‘s story. Check it out.

Okay, nothing special there, you may think… Read more »

News: New Trailer For Sherlock Holmes – Game Of Shadows

Posted in Movies, News, Thoughts, Trailer with tags , , , , , , , , on October 20, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

Was the first film any good? I dunno, I haven’t seen it. You know, Guy Ritchie, Jude Law, it sounds… awful. But, hey, it got a sequel so it can’t be all bad. Oh, and this one has my 2010 crush Noomi Rapace in it, so maybe I’ll go see it after all. Let’s have a look, shall we?

It certainly is… explodey.  Read more »

News: Lengthy The Dark Knight Rises Prologue To Be Shown Before Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Posted in Comics, Movies, News, Thoughts with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 19, 2011 by Bjorn Grainger

A weird one this, but one for which we can all be thankful. Paramount’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol will come with a six minute preview/prologue of Warner Bros. The Dark Knight Rises on all IMAX prints. So, you know, if you were intending on seeing Ghost Protocol you’ve got a pretty good excuse to spend that extra penny seeing the IMAX version…

So, why would Paramount and Warner Bros. do this? Read more »
