Games: Rockstar Announce Grand Theft Auto V

We knew it was coming. We just had to be patient. Introduced with a simple update to the website, with little fuss and no fanfare from Rockstar themselves, Grand Theft Auto V is GO. The usual GTA typeface on the usual black background, with only the ‘five’ in a money-coloured green standing out. Of course, the big thing is the announcement of the trailer on 2nd November. If you remember back to March 2007 when GTA IV‘s trailer debuted, you’ll know that the ol’ Internet is gonna take a hammering.

Already the speculation has begun. A lot of sites are quoting sources saying it’ll be set in LA or a GTA-ified version of LA (Los Santos? San Andreas?). Personally I’m leaning toward the latter. Also doing the rounds are rumours that you’ll play as more than on character during the game. If true, this would please me immensely. I always thought that GTA IV and the subsequent episodes had the feeling of being part of a whole, but it was just too much of a challenge for Rockstar at the time. Here’s hoping they’ve pulled it off.

Anyway, we could make shit up all week. We’ll know for sure come Wednesday next week.
