News: The Amazing Spider-Man New Promo Pics
I haven’t exactly been quiet about my lack of excitement for The Amazing Spider-Man. The trailer was alright, and the subsequent marketing has been lacklustre. Considering this film is going up against The Avengers, Prometheus, and The Dark Knight Rises in a packed summer window, it really needs to step up its game. Anyway, some new pics have been released. Let’s see if they tickle the parts they need to reach.
It’s very… red. Also, I get the feeling I’ve seen it somewhere before. Let me think…
OH YEAH. I saw it when the first Spider-Man film was released. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe that was a one-off copy. I mean, there are only so many poses Spidey can pull.
The Amazing Spider-Man swings over the city…
… and so does Spider-Man. Seriously, are they being this lazy? God, why even bother with Marc Webb’s ‘re-imagining’, just re-release Sam Raimi’s original in 3D.
Hey, wait. It’s not all bad. We do have some shots from the film that aren’t lazy copies.
Here’s Rhys Ifans as Dr Curt Connors thrashing about in some water. Has the experiment to regrow his missing arm gone wrong? We know it does…
And here’s the best thing about The Amazing Spider-Man, the only thing keeping that last flickering flame of hope alive in my cold cynical heart – Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. He’s bathed in a blue light. I bet it’s the radioactive spider that bites him. Totes.
The Amazing Spider-Man weaves its web on UK screens from the 4th July 2012.
