Weekly Ricochet: The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, Prometheus, Transformers 4, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…
This week’s Ricochet has a couple of trailers, a few pics, and some interesting rumours. Let’s get to it.
Marvel have released a new pic from The Avengers. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is looking mighty serious while we get we get our first peek at Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson. That’s not the only Avengers related news. There’s a fantastic interview with visual effects supervisor Chris Wells in Starburst Magazine where he hints at an epic opening sequence. I shan’t spoil it for you, give it a read.
A moody Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker above. We got our first look at a scene from The Amazing Spider-Man yesterday. Earlier in the week we also saw the release of the international trailer.
There are few extra little things in there (the slightly extended takedown of the cops catches my eye) but it’s essentially the same as the trailer released to much fanfare a couple of weeks ago.
Ridley Scott’s Prometheus continues its slow drip of information, beating Spidey to the punch with an international trailer of its own.
Apart from the missing title, I can see little difference from the teaser released late last year. If you spot anything, do let us know in the comment section below.
I enjoyed the first Transformers. I thought it big dumb enjoyable fun. Then Revenge Of The Fallen came along and destroyed everything I held dear. I didn’t bother with Dark Of The Moon, not after Michael Bay brutally sodomised my brain with his grubby man-part with the aforementioned Fallen…, but the film went on to make over ONE BILLION DOLLARS. With money like that it was inevitable a sequel would be announced and it’s due on 29th June 2014. Michael Bay is back too but the rumours say he’s the only one. Shia LeBoeuf was always on his way out but it appears the rest of the cast are being dropped in favour of a new focus on the giant robots. I don’t hold much hope for the franchise, not after the way it dicked Optimus Prime about, but if this new direction rids the film of the awful Witwicky parents, that can only be a good thing.
That’s pretty epic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artwork above. It comes via ~nebezial on DeviantART. This leads me neatly to the news of a live-action reboot to the early nineties sensation. Yes, the Turtles are heading back to cinema screens and negotiations with director Jonathan Liebesman are well under way. Liebesman, currently working on Wrath Of The Titans, also directed Battle: Los Angeles. I caught the last our or so the other day. To say I wasn’t impressed would be an understatement. Anyway, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt.
That’s all for this week. If you have anything to add, or an opinion you want to express, get involved down below.
