News: The Dark Knight Rises Viral Campaign Reveals Latest Trailer
The third The Dark Knight Rises trailer I begged and pleaded for in my recent articles is due to be shown before The Avengers this week. Yesterday, Warner Bros. started a viral marketing campaign to unlock the trailer earlier by placing the graffiti seen above in various places around the world.
The Wanted poster above, the warrant for Batman’s arrest, and a memo from the deputy Commissioner were sent to various sites and contained various clues on where to send your geotagged photos – either using the twitter hashtag #TDKR07202012 or email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
As the hashtag was used and the sightings of the graffiti sent in, WB slowly released frames from the new trailer which eventually built up to the collage you see below.
Of course, the target was met and Warner Bros. released the trailer into the wilds in the early hours of the morning. So, without further ado, here’s the trailer.
My initial reaction? I’m not quite as excited watching this one as I was the previous trailer, but be in no doubt, I think it looks freaking fantastic. It seems that the complaints about Bane’s voice have been taken to heart as he sounds a lot clearer – “I’m Gotham’s reckoning”. It’s great to finally get a good look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and see her in action as Catwoman. And, as for Bats, the line “Not everything. Not yet.” makes me tear up a little. As soon as the trailer is available to download I shall do one of my infamous breakdowns. I bet you can’t wait. In the meantime, let me know what you think below.
Christopher Nolan’s final entry in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, opens the world over on the 20th July.
