It’s truly exciting year for those of us who love our action-packed spy thrillers. Not only is Bond back but it seems he’s in top form with Skyfall (I saw the IMAX trailer before a showing of The Dark Knight Rises and was BLOWN AWAY), but we also have a return of the Bourne series with The Bourne Legacy. Replacing Matt Damon, Jeremy Renner now heads up the franchise as Operation Treadstone comes to an end and powerful forces try to tie up loose ends by disposing of their assets.

Nope, there was never just one. It appears the actions of Jason Bourne have forced the hands of the higher-ups and they plan to eliminate any and all links that lead back to them, starting with the genetically engineered, brainwashed super soldiers like Aaron Cross.

I have faith in director Tony Gilroy. He might just be able to pull this one off and The Bourne Legacy could just be the enjoyable send off to the summer silly season we need.

The Bourne Legacy, starring Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Albert Finney, and Joan Allen, is due for release on the 13th August.
