News: Joseph Gordon-Levitt And Bruce Willis Battle And Time Travel in Rian Johnson’s Looper
I’m not sure how but I’ve missed telling you all about Rian Johnson’s Looper. I mean this is right up The Shootening’s street – a sci-fi time travelling actioner starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis as the same character?! I need to be taken aside and given a stern telling off.
That trailer pretty much explains it – In the future time travel has been invented, but is deemed illegal. It exists solely on the black market and mostly in the hands of the mob. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Joe, a special kind of a hitman known as a “Looper” who deals with the targets the mob send back from thirty years in the future. The going is good for Joe until his employers decide to “close the loop” and send Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) back to be disposed of.
Looper looks looks a hell of a lot of fun, the right blend of mind-bending time travel and explosive action. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on a roll right now and it’s great to see Bruce Willis back in something as interesting and vital as this (Sorry GI Joe and The Expendables 2) . Rian Johnson, who wrote and directed the film, might have the break out hit of the Autumn (that’s the fall for all you Americans out there) on his hands. Here’s hoping.
Looper lands on UK screens from the 28th September.
