I’m not sure how but I’ve missed telling you all about Rian Johnson’s Looper. I mean this is right up The Shootening’s street – a sci-fi time travelling actioner starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis as the same character?! I need to be taken aside and given a stern telling off. Read more »

Okay, I admit it. I was a little late to the Taken party. I finally got my stupid ass around to watching the action thriller a few weeks ago, and my God it did not disappoint. Liam Neeson is ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills. His young daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) ventures off on holiday overseas to France much against his will, and such is the way in these things, badness happens and his daughter is kidnapped. Mills, using his particular set of skills, brutally and efficiently tears his way through the Paris underworld in order to rescue her. It is fierce, violent, and fantastic. Anyway, luckily for me, Taken 2 is out soon and here’s the trailer. Read more »
Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges was the perfect mix of gangster thriller and pitch black comedy, and the director’s re-team with Colin Farrell seems to be in very much the same vein. Hey, do you remember that update I did a couple of days ago on Brian De Palma’s Passion? Those super high quality pics? Well, we’ve gone one better – now we have the trailer.
Martin McDonagh, director of the brilliant In Bruges, returns later this year with Seven Psychopaths. It sees him re-team with Colin Farrell in a crazy tale of dognapping gone wrong. Also starring Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken, the trailer is a blast. Check it out.
I’ve mentioned a few times how I’d like to see a return of the intelligent sci-fi blockbuster. This year we’ve had the somewhat disappointing Prometheus, and I’ve talked a few times about Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, which unfortunately been delayed until 2013. So, it’s up to the returning Wachowskis, joined by Tom Twyker, to take up the cause with Cloud Atlas. Read more »
As I mentioned last week during my update on The Bourne Legacy, this is a bumper year for those of who enjoy our spy action thrillers. Skyfall is shaping up to be the best Bond film in a very long time (the IMAX trailer is mind-blowing) and the new trailer, released today, only serves to confirm that.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s first film for five years, The Master, has teased us with a couple of clips – One focussing on Joaquin Phoenix’s unsettling Freddie, the other giving us our first glimpse of cult leader Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman). It turns out these were just a taster for the feature, as we now have the first full trailer.
