Here we are, little more than ten years on from the first Spider-Man movie and the franchise has been rebooted. A new director, new stars, and the promise of an ‘untold story’. Is it fair to say that The Amazing Spider-Man is the least anticipated of this year’s superhero movies? Is it the thought of sitting through the origin story AGAIN, so soon after the last version, that’s putting us off? Or is it that it’s up against the likes of Whedon’s The Avengers and Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises which is dulling the impact of the webslinger? It maybe neither, it could be both. The Avengers, the first in a trifecta of superhero movies this summer is out (or almost out) the world over.
